2025 Year in Review

As the year is coming to close I find myself, like many others, reflecting on how the year shaped up for me and pondering what I want my 2026 to look like. This post seemed like the best format for me to just voice these feelings out into the world even though they will more than likely be echoed into the void.

I find myself feeling quite proud of my 2025. Here are some of the things I accomplished in 2025:

  • Completed 2,095 lessons on boot.dev and reached leaderboard rank 100 out of 947,080 users (Signed up January 1st of 2025).
  • Reached top 50,000 on projecteuler.net.
  • Completed 12 Courses on Udemy.
  • Pushed 676 commits to my personal GitHub.
  • Read through and implemented the interpreterbook.

Through a lot of the efforts mentioned above I learned Golang and got back into programming after a 6 year hiatus. I have rediscovered my original love for programming that originally sent me to college.

I got back into AI after a 2 year hiatus and started building out an AI agent designed for my wife and myself using N8n. I also built out a chatbot so my wife and I can communicate with out AI agent via the matrix network protocol.

Outside of my technical accomplishments, 2025 was also a great year for my personal growth. Throughout this year I have grown closer to my wonderful wife than I had thought was possible if you had asked me in 2024.

More than anything I wanted to write this post so that I can remind my future self what this year meant to me. I was not attempting to brag about any of these accomplishments, because in the grand scheme of things none of these should mean anything to anyone online, but I'm proud of what this year has been and I want to remember it fondly.

I don't really believe in New Year's and try not participate, because I think they are designed to put people down when they don't achieve what they set out to do, but if I had to describe my 2025 in one word it would be "growth". I think if I similarly had to a pick a word for next year right now "fortifying". Now I don't have an exact goal in mind for this feeling or this word, but it just feels like what I want my 2026 to be.
